Constant Craving

Aug 07, 2005 19:31

I am currently devouring the contents of a ONE pound box of MEXICAN COOKIES. I am not a gainer/feedee. But I understand why people tend to pack on the pounds when they go *cold_turkey with nicotine. I really don't feel like I need to have a ciggerette. But I have this overwhelming uncontrolable desire to do this nervous eating. Probably ( Read more... )

Have you thought about cutting back and slowly weaning yourself off nicotine instead of quitting cold turkey?

I have thought about the gradual thing. But for me since my dosage of nicotine is less than most. (I smoked *ultra lites*) Cold_turkey has worked for me. I was over a month tobacco free and started back up again coz I wanted to go to one of my fave nite clubs for goth sundays(yes I like darkwave/industrial music) and knew I would be tempted. Once you have stopped smoking for a while, at least for me, you loose the taste for it. I mean I gagged a few times!

I can't stand the smell of smoke, and I smoke. I also about gag if I'm eating and someone is smoking around me. I need to stop. I smoke ultra lights as well, but then I just smoke more of them when I'm stressed...lol.

we both smoke ultra lites! LMAO well past tense for me hopefully. yeah stress is a big trigger and I DON't get how some hardcore smokers do that while eating. I know I crave a ciggy after dinner but during? oh my YUCKERS!
Yes you need to stop! I will support you all the way bebe! I don't want my gorgeous greek goddess turning into a *leather purse! my mom said she was sad today.. coz of the passing of Peter Jennings. I think he smoked for 20 yrs or so. Yikes. Have been hardcore on and off for 3 1/2 yrs. But a pack usually (if not under stress constantly) lasted me for 2-3days. Its a hard addiction to break. the nic factor is a beyawtch. But its a waste of time and money. (I really cannot afford it anymore.) I can't wait to get to the 7th day smoke free coz thats usually when the nic-fits and cravings come to grinding halt.

I was sad to read about Peter Jennings as well. My own grandmother passed away from lung cancer, and I thought about that often. I smoke mainly because I use stress as my excuse...but also I like smoking...sad, I know. I have to stop smoking soon, but I've been a smoker for 7 years now.

I am sorry your gradma passed away. Mine did too years ago from breast cancer. And man did she SMOKE! She never had a lighter. She would just start her first ciggy on her gas stove in the morning and just keep lighting the rest ciggy on ciggy style the whole entire day. I remember going to her apt as a child and billows of smoke would come out the door! she spoiled the living crud outta me! She would by me dolls/female action figures and play jewelry that evidently I would not get when I asked for them at home. Basically anything my bebe gay heart desired. (yes the writing was on the proverbial WALL!) it really used to piss my dad off! LOL
(I wanna help you quit when you are ready... yes its annoying but at least I know what yr going thru)

My grandmother never smoked a day in her life...but my grandfather smoked cigars non-stop (from what I hear, he had passed by the time I was born). I was spoiled rotten by my grandmother too, and in a sense I'm still spoiled by the things she did for me.
