[Background] Klavier was born and raised most of his life in Germany where he went through school to become a prosecutor. He graduated at the age of seventeen and moved to the United States where the first case he prosecuted (and won) was State vs. Gramarye. This case was pretty momentous as it was the case that got once acclaimed defense attorney, Phoenix Wright, disbarred for forging evidence. Unfortunately, the fact Wright wasn't the one who actually forged the evidence wouldn't come to light for seven more years.

Before he started his job as a prosecutor, Klavier played in a band. A band that quickly grew famous; by the time he prosecuted that first case, he was already topping charts worldwide with the single, 13 Years Hard Time For Love. Love With No Chance of Parole would follow soon after. His band, The Gavinners, had an interesting theme to them; all the members of the band were involved in law enforcement. This gimmick mixed with power love ballads and quick and loud pro-establishment songs seemed to be a hit, as the Gavinners grew incredibly popular, maintaining their status for years to come with a whopping 12 albums over the course of 7 years and over 10 chart-topping hits.

The first time Klavier Gavin heard the name "Apollo Justice" was the day his own brother was incarcerated for the murder of a man named Shadi Smith. Although it wasn't outwardly visible, the whole thing had left Klavier shaken to a degree (and of course, Klavier wasn't permitted to prosecute that trial; conflict of interest and all). It wasn't long before another murder popped up and Klavier was assigned it. When he learned who the defense was, Klavier canceled one of his concerts in order to do battle in the courtroom versus that defense attorney in the State vs Kitaki trial. Klavier ended up losing to Apollo in this case but win or lose was not a matter to the man; all that mattered was the truth being revealed. Apollo had revealed it and he gracefully accepted the defeat.

At the age of twenty three, Klavier had spent a short vacation in the small European commonwealth known as Borginia. He fell (musically) in love with a woman named Lamiroir. By some twist of fate, Lamiroir became involved in a horrendous murder in the United States shortly after the State vs Kitaki trial. She and her adoptive son, Machi, had traveled overseas to perform at a Gavinners concert as Klavier's personal guests of honour. During the concert, Lamiroir's own manager had been shot and the accused was Machi. The accusation upset Klavier a great deal although it seemed he was far more upset about his concert being ruined (by a band mate missing a cue, not a corpse laying backstage. He had time to get upset over that after he spent twenty minutes yelling at his back-up guitarist for missing a note). The trial was an agonizing three days, various facts revolving around the murder (as well as a new issue, a case of smuggling being brought to light) being lost in translation, a small hunch Klavier had ended up with his very own back-up guitarist on the witness stand to be questioned. It didn't take long for officer Daryan Crescend to crack under Apollo's questioning, eventually admitting to murdering Lamiroir's manager. Machi however, faced trial around the smuggling. This turn of events was starting to leave Klavier a little numb; he'd lost his brother, he'd lost his best friend (and band mate) and now, two cases to the same attorney.

It was at this point in Klavier's life where things were about to get really interesting (as if his brother and former band mate on death row wasn't enough). His next trial, State vs. Misham, turned into something nobody expected. What appeared to be a very simple case of patricide turned out to be the entire key to the State vs Gramarye case. The victim, Drew Misham, had been the one who created the forged evidence in the State vs. Gramarye trial seven years ago -- this Klavier knew. However, it was not actually Drew who did the forgery. It was his timid, young daughter, Vera, whom was now accused of killing him. Vera revealed that the man who commissioned the forgery was "the devil". Through time travel that wasn't really time travel (rather, something called the Mason system), it was revealed that the true identity of this "devil" was Klavier's own brother, Kristoph Gavin. In addition, Kristoph intended to use this evidence in the trial until Zak Gramarye dropped him as a lawyer and hired Phoenix Wright instead. Enraged, Kristoph slipped the evidence to Wright through a tactic of "give it to a small, cute child and tell her to give it to the old boy over there". Kristoph had also given Klavier a tip that the defense in the trial was going to be using forged evidence and to keep an eye out -- being a loyal sibling and trusting completely in his brother, Klavier never thought to question Kristoph on why he knew this.

This however, wasn't the end of Kristoph's scheme. When he paid for the forgery, he included a stamp and envelope. He'd poisoned the back of the stamp with a poison called Atroquinine, intending for Drew to lick that stamp and end up dead. However, the stamp contained an image of the magician troupe Vera adored, so Drew gave his daughter the stamp and used a different one to send the forged evidence to Kristoph. The Mason System revealed this information and Kristoph was taken from prison and placed on the witness stand for the State vs. Misham trial. Klavier and Apollo had to face off together against Kristoph (whom had reduced Klavier to more or less a whimpering pile of prosecutor). Kristoph was found guilty and Klavier was freed of a darkness he'd carried for years thanks to the plucky young attorney.

After the State vs. Misham case, Klavier decided it was time to break up the band. The Gavinners were no more -- and he needed a long vacation.

[Personality]

Bold and honest, Klavier is often up front about his feelings towards other people (be they positive or negative). The man has a very playful side he often lets out, laughing out loud and joking around. Self-assured and confident, the charming blond has but three passions in life; law, music and teasing. Nobody is safe from Klavier when he's feeling playful (which is, unfortunately, quite often. He's a dork like that). He thrives on a rather dry sense of sarcasm and enjoys making up somewhat insulting nicknames for people (such as Herr Forehead for a certain red-vested attorney).

Highly charismatic with a vigorous spirit, a mirthful smile is almost always across his face. It can be hard to bring the man down but he has his triggers -- perfection being one of them. Perfection with music, mainly. He insists his band play their best at all times, no slacking off even in practice. A single missed note during a show is enough to send him into a foul mood for days (even if the offending party apologizes). When he gets like this, he's pouty and stubborn, not willing to listen to reason and is quite content to mope about someone ruining the set, missing a note, ruining the entire performance... He can be such a little diva.

When it comes to the courtroom, all that Klavier seeks is the truth. He can roll with the punches and he regards those he doesn't think highly of with a hint of snark, making him seem like a bit of a jerk. It's really just another way he likes to tease. Although boisterous and a little "out there" with his techniques (such as air-guitaring after making an objection), Klavier manages to remain professional and mature on the bench.

[Specialties/Abilities] Klavier is a very skilled guitarist, singer and song writer. He is also fluent in German, English and speaks a little Borginese (a made-up language in the 4th Ace Attorney game).

[Affection] Klavier is European, they do things different there. Klavier is very friendly and accepts pretty much any kind of affection directed at him. He's a tiny bit more cautious of his affections towards others but often will drape an arm around a companion, hug or even steal food from his favourite Fräulein Detective, Ema them. He also loves to tease, just another way he shows how much he cares. ♥

[Fighting] Klavier can hold his own in a fight but he doesn't go looking for them. He's not big on violence, strongly preferring to do battle and settle things with words instead of fists. He doesn't really like to back down when challenged but he's smart enough to pick his battles.

[Other Facts] KLAVIER IS A GLIMMEROUS FOP.
