A few months ago I reported that I had finally tracked down a copy of "Script of the Bridge" by the Chameleons.

Since I got the new wheels, extensively covered here also, I cant get the CD out of the player. Its been three weeks. Damien Rice cant get a look in.

On Saturday, in the middle of rehearsals at CX HQ, I had to run an errand into Manchester and took Volker with me for the ride. There and back we listened to the whole album, and managed to drive through Middleton whilst we were at it, the home of the Chameleons. A nice touch for our German visitor, I thought.....

He is now also hooked. I defy anyone not to be. If you see it, buy it.

12 tracks of heartbreaking genius, and some of the best guitar playing ever. The lyrics are intensely moving as well. Kind of "I'm a man, but I feel like a child in the face of what I am going through". Sort of Peter Gabriel but without the IQ.

I don't think they had a clue what they were doing.

But what they did is still happening for me.
