Here We Go
A week after Radiohead upended industry expectations and decided to release their new album by "pay by choice" over the internet and mail order box set, it is now being widely reported that Madonna is about to leave Warners and sign a 10 year deal with Live Nation.
Live Nation are concert promoters. Not a record company. New Model anyone?
My post from a couple of weeks looks with hindsight to have been rather prescient. I had no insider knowledge of either of these deals.
Also next weekend I will be attending the annual In The City convention in Manchester. Last year, three MDs from majors (on the same panel hosted by AHW (RIP) all said that DRM would be gone by now.
