I'm such a not-geek.... I have no idea what it's telling me to actually do.

:) Ok you start it off with one of these:
<

then you add this (with no spaces)
lj-cut

if you want to show text you add this after a space and the lj-cut:
text="text to be shown"

then you close it with one of these:
>

after the text you want hidden you do the same thing, one of these:
<

but then you add this:
/lj-cut

then close it with one of these:
>
Any clearer? If not I can try to explain it differently.
