study habbits

oh man..my unit is finally starting to come together!  (I'm doing my first "teaching block", beginning on Nov. 20th)
It's grade 7 social studies.  I'm doing a unit on The Global Quality of Life, including Human Rights.
I'm actually starting to get excited now, rather than just being freeked out and stressed!  So this is good!  (Thank God)

I think I did fairly OK on my anti-procrastination resolution this term!
( I actually got a few assignments done weeks before the due date!)

Tonight I went to Starbucks at Chapters to do homework.  (Yes, I believe you are technically defined as a nerd when you do homework on a Friday night, however, sometimes it just has to be done).  Starbucks at Chapters is such a good study environment because you are surrounded by books!  Being with all those books just makes me feel smarter. :)
It was pleasant.  Tim was working and he gave me a Venti White Mocha!  That made it extra special.
The other thing that made it extra special was the conversation between a guy and girl who were sitting right behind me.  At first it sounded like they were discussing a failed relationship between the two of them, possibly an engagement I thought.

and ended up that she is a lesbian, and she is going through the process of dealing with the repercussions of telling her family and friends.  This is very difficult for her because she and her girlfriend are from Christian families; they actually met at Bible School.  I then discovered that the guy and the girl were probably sister and brother.  She mentioned the reactions of some of her friends, and family.  People would always mention how they thought it was wrong.  Her mother said she prayed about it and felt that it was wrong.  The girl talked about how she had prayed a lot.  she was worried about how people were going to treat her girlfriend, and how she always feels on edge in social settings. I was very tempted to turn around and ask her questions, but I refrained, fearing that it would seem very rude.  MAN was it INTENSE!
I just couldn't stop listening to it.  I don't even feel bad about it because it was just SO interesting.  Rather shocking, but interesting.

SO, I've been thinking about Christmas, and these are some things that I sort of want..

- a new computer chair (are they expensive?I'm just using a kitchen chair, and it's not so comfy)
- a trip to Ontario to see some friends get married, as well as visit some others.
-Microsoft Office (yeah, I know, I don't have it!)
-a lap top..(I probably won't go for this one, it seems extravagant, but could be useful)
