Ugh, super tired, but I wanted to get a few things posted.
First up, I decided my Pullips needed a bit more attention. Poor Dittany never got any pictures after her initial box opening and I still had no real idea what direction I wanted to go with her. She just kind of sat there and I felt fairly meh about her, pretty as she was.
So I went through all my clothes and came up with a concept for her. I've been admiring people's dolls that use bright, crazy colours and more contemporary styling (vs the more fantasy-oriented looks), but I didn't have any doll with that kind of look. So...now I do. Granted, I don't have a lot of choices available, so this isn't final or anything, but it's a start.
With any luck, I'll find or make s'more stuff for her, including some bright beaded jewelry.
I also took her hair down out of the wierd, sloppy braid. It was already falling out anyway, and I like it much better this way. The wig cap is, unfortunately, really visible. Buuuut she's got a hat. 8) 'Sall good.
Later, I managed to restring my Celandine. It took a while since I accidentally got things a bit tight and I really had to struggle to get the S-hook back into her head. Once done, though, I got her dressed up in the only SD size outfit I own. It wasn't a great fit, but it mostly worked.
I hadn't planned on using these eyes, they were just a temporary fix. I'd eventually like to get her some bright blue &/or red eyes, but these are nice enough for now.
I find myself waffling a bit on the bright yellow. I definitely like it more in person than in these photographs. With the flash, it looks SUPER bright. It's fairly bright in person, but not quite so much so. I do think she's really beautiful and I cannot fault the customizer for following the example, but I hadn't really intended her to actually end up with yellow.
This was the wig I'd hoped to use for her, but I'm either going to have to replace it or trim the fringe. It completely covers her face most of the time and it was a massive effort to get it out out of her eyes to get a few pictures.
Finally...Krait arrived today!
I'm hoping to make a much more detailed post later, when I've got more time, but initial impressions:
I was not quite prepared for the skin tone. He's just so... Well, I didn't have any dolls in normal skin. And it's decidedly normal skin-ish. XD I was a little put off by how peachy-yellowy he looks in person, but that didn't last too long. He's huge, but I was more prepared for that and it wasn't a bad thing. I kind of love how gigantic he is. XD
He does have a bit of damage on one lower leg, just above the ankle. :( Sadface. I think I'll try to repair it, but at least it's just the normal limb. I anticipate not using it very much anyway. There are some scuffs on his face-up, on the chin, probably due to the mask. The armour also has several visible scuffs in the painting, though none are too major. He's got a bit of staining around the joints, where they rubbed on the armour paint, but I was actually warned of that.
One of the armour pieces also broke during shipping, though it's a part that should be easily glued back together. One of the hand blades fell out as soon as I removed it from the packaging, but that's obviously where they were glued together to begin with, and that will also be simple.
Overall, I do really like him, but I didn't quite feel the major excitement I'd hoped for. I think that's mostly because he's in his normal body, though. Aaaand because the prospect of restringing him with the armour pieces is a little scary. ^^; Luckily he came with really nice, detailed instructions from Luts. I would have started on it if I hadn't taken the Carmalt clamps back to work this morning. Will have to borrow them again tomorrow and give it a try.
In the meantime, he's just chilling.
In normal lighting, his eyes usually look pretty dark. I didn't even realize how colourful they were until I saw the photographs with the flash. XD
His faaaaace. I do like it. But it's going to be mask-hidden soon. X3 <3
Also.
Daae showed up to help with the unboxing.
