We watched Tokyo Monogatari (or Tokyo Story) the other day. This is very much one of the types of movies that I like: slow, subtle, and evocative. Certain scenes stand out in my mind: the old couple's shoes sitting side by side outside of their door, while they tried to sleep and the loud crowds of mahjong playing, drunken hooligans kept them awake at the inn; them sitting side by side on the wall near the ocean; the slow, careful shots in their son's house, following his wife as she moves from room to room.

It was good to listen to Japanese for a couple of hours, too. Although I definitely needed the subtitles for the most part, it's good practice to listen and read the translations and put things together in my head.

Last night we went to the gym, then came home and had beans and rice and Justin's homemade guacamole - yum. After dinner we watched Noises Off with Justin #2. Still one of my favorite comedies. I had to fight to stay awake for the whole thing though, and when we finally went to bed at 11:30 I fell asleep almost immediately. Been staying up too late this week... just seems like I never have enough time to do everything I want to do, and I'm sure most other people feel like they have the same problem.
