So let me tell you about my awesome weekend. I saw Rilo Kiley two nights in a row. I drove to Asheville on Friday after work, and I kinda hated Asheville. People were rude and I couldn't find anything, but I did finally find the club. I could hardly see because a bunch of tall people thought it'd be cool to stand in front of me, and with the way the club was set up, speakers and crap was in the way. More than one person almost knocked me over without bothering to say excuse me or sorry or anything. I enjoyed what I could see of it. Afterwards, I was supposed to stay in a hostel, but I couldn't find it (and one guy was a little rude on the phone anyway), so I went to a hotel instead.
Well, I had managed to get a ticket to see Rilo Kiley in Atlanta for Saturday night, so I drove to Atlanta on Saturday. I must say, I like Atlanta a lot. I walked around some cool boutiques and whatever, and then I sat in front of the venue with some other folks--I was determined to stand up front this time. These two girls I met were really nice, and we stood together during the concert. I stood in front of Blake. I winked at Jenny Lewis during the first song because she looked right at me (no joke!), and she smiled. So, about halfway through the concert, they threw these huge balloons with confetti in them into the audience. One of the balloons ends up knocking over Blake's open bottle of water, so I go after it so it won't spill out more, but there's water already getting all over his guitar pedals. So I'm wearing two tank tops, so I take one off and throw it on stage to start wiping up the spilt water. Later in the concert, I got to touch Jenny and Blake (yeah, I even ran my hand through Blake's hair...). During the encore, I met this kid who was celebrating his 21st birthday, so I yell to Rilo Kiley that it's his birthday, so the drummer gives this kid his beer, and the bass player comes up to say cheers and clink bottles. Then Blake tells the whole audience about how I lunged after the bottle of water to keep it from spilling more, and how I just produced this wife beater or whatever to wipe up the water, and the whole audience and the band claps for me. Blake is like, "you're beautiful," and I'm like, no, you're beautiful and I love you, and he says "I love you, too." After the show is over, Blake gives me a t-shirt, my tank top, a set list (which I gave to a ten-year-old girl standing near me who I had met), and a guitar pick.
Umm, awesome, anyone? Yeaaaaaahhhh.
