The Cat's Meow

Uploaded a pic of the resident cat of my block. Mum and I fondly named her "Duchess" after meeting her so many times at the void deck. I used to detest cats cos of their mean slit-like eyes, claws and everything and also cos of the fact that dogs are so much cuter (puppies!!), but Duchess changed my whole perspective and, made me a cat lover. No regrets :) Dad's the offical cat lover in my family, while Mum is really paranoid cos she can't stand them, and often chases them away with a loud:" Shoo!" at coffeeshops. But she does have nice comments on cats that have beautiful coats. hee~

I bonded with her by doing some fancy mouth-work (I really don't know how to describe it, and NO , it's NOT kissing sounds) and she would just come out wherever she was. Cos I just moved to my new place not long ago, I really have no idea how long she has been around, cept that she makes the ground area of my block her dwelling place to sleep, search the drains, and I'm guessing, to catch the rodents running around at dusk.

Sometimes I find her curled up in deep sleep on the bonnets of parked cars in the car park, or under them. What amazes me is that she defines the cat version of being obedient. She keeps her distance and gazes up at me everytime we meet, and on occasion, rubs herself against my leg and smells my shoes. Cos of hygiene reasons and now that SARS is still around, I can't bring myself to reach down and pat her, though I wish I could. And cos she has been skinny of late, I wonder, should I do the human nature thing and give her food? I'm worried that it'll kinda bring our "friendship" to a different level, meaning she'll only look to me for food and nothing else, and people do say animals have no feelings. hmmm..?

She's one darling cat, I can tell u that. :)
