Sam was panicking. He didn't want to panic, he didn't want to make anything about himself. He was on the verge of digging his own hole. His friends all needed him and all he wanted was to inject himself with dope and pass out til the end of time. His emotional limitations were starting to get to him. He should be able to handle the idea of seeing Xander again. He shouldn't care about Xander or his boyfriend or the fact that his boyfriend was probably a better musician in a better band. Moreover, why didn't Sam tell the other Sam to bring fucking skag with him? No he didn't need it. He wanted to stay clean. If that cool scientist chick Abby could do it, so could he.
Sam pushed these thoughts aside as he walked into the back door of the 8 to 5. He caught up with Dave and started to assemble their set. Lee arrived next followed by Carter and Bobby.
"Isn't your babysitter going to wonder where you went?" Dave asked Bobby.
"Jealous much?" Bobby replied sticking his hip out and dragging his fingers through Carter's hair. Lee snickered and Sam just rolled his eyes at the exchange.
"Got a problem Sammy?" Bobby asked, turning to face him.
"No and don't call me that." Bobby started to inch towards Sam. He reached for Sam's hand and Sam pulled it away and shot a glare at Carter.
"Stop it Bobby."
"We would be so cute together, Sam. Just us pretty boys."
Sam glared at Bobby and then picked him up by his shirt collar and slammed him against the wall. He pushed his lips against Bobby's violently. His tongue entered fiercely and lingered for a few seconds til Sam put the teenager back on the ground.
"Sit down or go home, Bobby," Sam said and marched onto the stage to finish setting up while his bandmates watched with mouths agape. He knew he shouldn't have taken his anger out on the younger guy but Bobby was saying the wrong things to the wrong guy at the wrong time.
Sam finished plugging in their equipment and they took the stage. Deservedly, Sam sang a little too hard and a little too loud that night.
