For those of you who are tattooed.....

...I am trying to learn as much information on tattooing as I can before I go and get one. I'll be 21 at the end of September, and that is when I am going to get my tattoo of the Nautical Star because it has a special meaning to me to always follow my dreams, the stars, like the old sailors did in the past.

"The nautical star, as its name suggests, is associated with seafaring. And also like the anchor, the nautical star is popular in tattoo shops.

Since sailors of old relied upon the stars for navigation, the nautical star is a symbol of guidance.

Today it is more likely to be perceived as a gentle nudge to follow your dreams. This meaning most likely has its roots in sailors following the stars to get where they wanted to go."

I figured that turning 21 would mark a new time in my life and a constant reminder to follow my dreams and my heart when it comes to making decisions. If I were to get this tattoo, every time I would look at it, it would remind me to keep following the stars... keep following my dreams... and eventually I will get where I want to in life. I think turning 21 will be a great point in my life to get this tattoo, since I will be graduating from college soon, and heading out on my own to follow my dreams of music. Instead of going out and getting drunk off my ass, and not remembering a damn thing from my 21st birthday, I want to get a symbol that has a powerful meaning to me, that I will have for the rest of my life. So, low and behold, instead of just going to any tattoo place, and having just any body tattoo me, I want to get facts on local places in the Ocean City/Maryland area, facts about the tattoo artisits, and I want to talk to people who have got tattoos and are pleased with them in every way possible. If anyone can help me out with info of any kind, you know I'd appreciate it tons. I'm trying to be smart about getting my tattoo, and not careless and ignorant, and then regreting the quality and outcome later on for the rest of my life. Thanks in advance for any help!!

Take it easy,
Melissa
