Unemployment, day 2

May 17, 2011 14:13

What have I done today?

I got out of bed relatively early but went back to bed about two hours later.

Ran down to the corner market to get smokes.  Ended up spending $35 on shit including cigarettes.  I really don’t need donuts but I got some.  The whole box is now gone.

I called Fed Ex and screamed at a couple poor customer service representatives ( Read more... )

I just wish I hadn't awakened so early... now I feel like crap...

Donuts are ALWAYS a good time TWBR took one of his more recent gentlemen callers out for some local delicacies (In and Out Burgers if you must know) and brought a half a dozen fresh Krispy Kreme donuts back to me. (Do I have the boy trained right, or what) I ate them in lieu of the salad I was going to precede dinner with. (ok, ok, with which I was going to precede dinner.)

Look at Fed Ex this way... someone has occasionally got to yell at them... it might as well be you.

Unemployment/temping is no fun... As long as you've started the ball rolling with the unemployment office folk, and keep looking for some type of work, you're doing all that can be expected of you. FYI, I know it sucks, but working is better than just laying about collecting checks... And frankly, contacting one of two temp agencies, might well be something to do in the interim.

Hmmmn, I realize that what I'm about to suggest is going to be about as pleasant as chopping your wonder rod off with a meat cleaver, but you might want to start gradually weaning yourself off the happy pills... Assuming you have enough, just start taking one or two less each day until you run out. (is that something that is even remotely doable?)

Doggie doo again?? Alright, it's time to have a heart to heart with Akira's owners... it's not fair to you and it's not fair to the dog...

I am not familiar at all with Seattle's Mr. Bundy. I trust he doesn't actually have a brother named Ted lurking about. And you should always negotiate the fee schedule before the entertainment portion of the evening.

It's Tuesday... I want a nap

I've tried the weaning--it's hard!! Nothing lasts forever though so if it stops, it stops.

Crispy Kreme are vastly better than old Entenmann's any day. I'm jealous.

Now I know why people disallow anonymous posts. What the fuck?!? (See below.)

If I could find a way to send you CKs and have them be as fresh (and uhm cheap) as bringing some to Mr. Project ADD, I would. xoxo

Please disallow anonymous posts. It will confuse the a-holes who want to piss on the already pissed upon. He/she/it thinks that's helping, or that someone thinks it's clever?

Agreed. IMO, being able to get and document temp work during a lull ranks waaaaaay out in front of those who didn't and can't.

And although $60 isn't much more than staying home, it's more. And it's mostly renewable over time, whereas unemployment bennies have a limited distribution horizon.

Bottom line is that unless you've decided to move back to Ohio and have set a date, walking away from the temp job breaks a lot of things, starting with the relationship with Steve (was that his name, the bud who got you in the door?).

Boredom is the smallest of prices to pay. You'd be that and more if you stayed home.
