Keetoom: The Guarding (With sidekick of Valkyrie)

Jul 24, 2008 07:15

It's been decided that there is nothing that I do in this house, or in my life in which there is not at least 1 keetoom following me around demanding that I laugh or cuddle them.

It's worse when I'm tired, sick, or hurting. Scott swears that the critters run shifts to watch over me. And sometimes I'm pretty sure he's right.

The nightly ritual before I sleep:

-I lay down on the bed.
-Artemis jumps up, trills at me, kisses my nose. She then kneeds the blanket for a short bit before curling up on my arm, wrapping her paws around it and falling asleep.
-Loki jumps up, eyes Artemis with the Cold "who the fuck do you think YOU are look", kneeds my belly, purrs, headbutts, and goes to sleep perched on me.
-Thor jumps up, usually gets face to face with Loki. They have a staring contest. He then proceeds to motor purr his way to my face, headbutt me, then curls up next to my head and puts his paw on the top of my head to fall asleep.
-Peepit slinks over via the dresser, eyes Artemis, does the Loki/Peepit "fuck you" dance. Tells me all about his day. (hence peepit) He then drops next to Artie and, bares his belly demanding belly rubs.

The whole time Valkyrie is either sleeping on my toes or snoozing under the bed.

Then we all fall asleep.

Sometime during the night, Loki shifts off, Thor ends up on the floor. And Artemis and Peepit end up wrapped around each other and tangled around my feets. If Scott's not sleeping with me (in which case peepit attempts to wedge himself between us, jealous butt) Val usually ends up curled against my back or as my pillow for a short time.

Needless to say, I'm rarely alone when I sleep. Which is comforting.

Then there's the building of furniture.

Peepit thinks he's a furniture building GOD.

He helps me hammer, he helps me screw the nails in. And Goddamnit, he will bring me the next screw. Don't mess with the little man! He'll get it out of that damned bag. No wait, yup, got it out of the bag, and so what if he tossed the rest of the nails and screws all over the floor.

*facepalm*

The other three perch around me, play with the packaging material, and periodically peer through the spaces I create while building furniture.

In Val news. I ended up taking her to the vet on Monday. We found more scabs all over her back and promptly shaved her. (which the great fuzzy beast hated and is just now starting to forgive me for)

On Monday morning it just seemed to be getting worse, so we went to the vet where I was promptly told that she needs to be rinsed off after swimming as fast as possible. (sigh) And that she had a staph skin infection.

So, the poor bear is currently on an oral antibiotic, a topical one and gets her back cleaned daily.

For those of you thinking about bringing dogs. No worries. She is not contagious. Staph is a normal fauna of everyone's skin, her's just had a reason to multiply out of control.

Anyways, back to prepping the house for the party.

Ciao folks. :)
