HP/Compaq: Just another Dell now...
HP just disbanded their Consumer Applications and Systems Laboratory, Emerging Technologies Laboratory, Cambridge Research Laboratory, and Advanced Software Research team. Alan Kay was in the last group - they let him go, too. Who is he? He founded Xerox PARC, invented the Smalltalk programming language, and is considered the father of the Object Oriented Programming paradigm, among other things.
Good job, guys. Invent? More like Follow.
