Castle Fever recap

Jun 09, 2008 16:37

I started out on Friday afternoon, and arrived on site about 2:30 pm.  I asked Brenda where I should set up my mundane tent.  She pointed me in the right direction and I drove over to inspect the site choices I had.  I picked out this lovely little spot with plenty of shade and close to the potty.  Great location for those who may have to make a trip in the middle of the night.  My mundane can be set up by myself, but it goes faster, if I have another person helping me out.  After staking the tent down, and putting the poles together, I walked over to troll.  Ivar was sitting there chit chatting with Brenna.  I crooked my little finger, and asked for some assistance.  Being a kind gentleman, he helped me put up the poles.  Five minutes is all it took to have the tent up.  I unloaded my van, and was in garb in about a half hour.  I was the first on site to be dressed and ready to play.  I walked down to the period encampment, which looked awesome!  And spent the rest of my evening down there.  Saturday I did a shift at troll, and met some very nice people.
Saturday night, I witnessed my first "Spear the Beer" game, had a glass of Gorilla milk ( which was the equivalent of 16 0z) and kept my eye on some of my friends that had dipped a little to much into the gorilla milk....  I witnessed a jewish wedding ceremony between  Domonio, and Froberry.....  (giggle) and ate my fill at the feast.

Coffin chicken, (moist, yummy, and period) several other veggie dishes, and delectable deserts.  I made a strawberry rhubarb crisp that got eaten up.  I didn't even have left overs.  yeah!  I had great company at the feast.  Belle, Ingrim, and Jacob.  Later on we had a going away party under the pavilion for Ivar and Lilliana.  Bardic circle was under the pavilion as well, since it was raining.  I joined in on the songs I knew.  Ingus does such a wonderful job in belting out the tunes.

Sunday, I was woken to a drip drip on my forehead...  More reason as to why I really need to look into finding a used pavilion for next year's camping season......

The mundane had all the rain it could handle, and was starting to come inside.  I knew things would just get worse, so I got myself out of bed at 6:30 am to hurry and pack things.  By 7:30 I had the van packed, with the exception of the tent.  I knew the plan was to start tear down around noon.  It was my hope that I could have my tent dry out a little by that time, before I had to take it down.  I was met with some success.  But right now, the tent is on the lawn  drying out, and I have to waterproof things again.

Camp was cleaned up around 3:00 pm.  I had a great time.  Survived the rain, and I am looking forward to WW.
