Hello fellow pig people! I think I need your help. After finding this community recently and reading through all of the tags and memories, I decided to try the fleece method. My 2 pigs love it; the minute I put the fleece in they were popcorning all over the place. They're snuggling in it and having a great time, and I'm happy to ditch the annoying, messy shavings. But...
It's day 4 of using the fleece, and my problem is the poop! I got a little dustpan for sweeping up the poops every day, but it's not enough. I started sweeping them up 2 or 3 times a day, and that worked. But overnight, they destroy the cage. Every morning when I wake up, they've pooped all over and ground it into the bedding. The fleece is covered in poo pellets and this disgusting powder of poops they've trampled into a huge mess that takes forever to sweep up, and I still can't get it all cleaned. The vacuum terrifies them, so that doesn't help me clean up.
What do you guys suggest? Should I try training them to use a litter pan with shavings, or maybe just add shavings to one small section of their cage in hope that they'll only go there? (For reference, I have the Midwest cage. It has 8 square feet and 2 sections in it.)
Thank you!
