Nook Color

Well I am pretty satisfied with my Nook Color.

Books, of course load and read very well, I find the swipe much better than the clicky buttons of the Classic Nook.  While my novels don't have that nifty page curl that  I had on my iTouch (and I assume the iPad as well?) but it slides smoothly enough and is much more the feel of a real book than the ( Read more... )

Here's the thing, I'm told you can't side load apps unless you root (jailbreak) it. If you do you void the warranty. I personally am not going to consider rooting mine until after the manufacture and the 2 yr extended accident warranties are up, if it were a $100 item, maybe, but $249 I just know something horrendous will happen to it and then I'm stuck.

At this time B&N does not have a comic reader app, from what I've read on forums, enough people want one, and have actually contacted B&N and suggested it, that it might happen sooner than later. Especially if it wants to remain competition for the iPad, more apps will have to come soon.

For me personally the pdf app I think will suffice. Next time we do coffee, I'll bring mine with some comics on it and you can look.

Geoff told me that the OS is Linux, but I do believe the apps are Android. I asked about the OS because I was concerned about virus software being needed to surf the web. The answer to that is, not so much.

I really love my Nook Color, only second day and I don't know how I managed with out it.

Really

I wouldn't be looking to load apps like my phone; but understanding OS helps me decided.

Marvel has a subscription website, so I could always hit that and see it. Plus, they have an app for Chrome, so I'm curious to see if it works with the Nook version of Android.

Yes, bring with for coffee! I would love to play with it. And I promise not to crack the case. :-)
