Seeing as how we now have our toes in the shallow waters 2006, I think it's a good idea to look back at 2005 to recap some of the more interesting or important aspects of the departed year. Without further ado, the lists:

My favourite people of 2005:
1) J.K. Rowling - New Harry Potter books and movies are wonderful things.
2) Jon Stewart - Thank you for showing the illogical and funny sides of politics.
3) Lance Armstrong - Seven consecutive Tour de France victories? He's got my respect.

My favourite movies of 2005:
1) Sin City - Beautiful. Period.
2) War of the Worlds - Very powerful movie, in my opinion. The story has a couple hollow points, but it is still engaging.
3) Cinderella Man - Wonderful drama; Russell Crowe does a great job.

My favourite CDs of 2005:
1) "All the Stars and Boulevards" by Augustana
2) "Wreck of the Day" by Anna Nalick
3) "Stand Up" by Dave Matthews Band

Twits of the Year:
1) FEMA - Way to show the American people how prepared we are to cope with another natural disaster or the terrorist attacks we're so worried about.
2) The Media - Terri Schiavo, Natalee Holloway...thanks for spending hours telling us the same information, and for taking any remaining dignity away from the victims and families.
3) Bill O'Reilly - I hate this guy with a red-hot fiery passion. I appreciate your conservative views, Mr. O'Reilly, and I believe you have every right to those views. But, when you try to force your view on others, or try to discredit someone else's opinion simply because he/she is a liberal, you lose my respect. It seems to me that O'Reilly thinks a liberal can do no good, and if he does, said liberal obviously has a hidden agenda or ulterior motive. And don't even get me started on the stupidity of his desire to boycott France. *grr*

Most important event: The death of Pope John Paul II
- I'm not a Catholic, and I don't believe the Pope is infallible, but I do think that his death as affected more lives - on a global scale - than any other event of the year.
