Nostalgia.
Nos-tal-gia [no-stal-juh, -jee-uh, nuh-] - n
1. a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one's life, to one's home or homeland, or to one's family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness of a former place or time.
It is something that plagues everyone at one point in their life. We've all felt nastalgia. For something, or someone, who was once a part of our lives. But, what is it exactly that brings about this feeling?
It is a feeling, I believe, that is both amazing and painful at the same time; To look back on a time in your life, and remember how happy it made you at one point, then realize you no longer have it. To look back, and realize how much that one thing has changed you, and made you the person you are today.
I find myself working my mind to death lately. Especially with the journal topics English 111 is supplying.
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of dreams.
No dream is ever out of reach, or too far from reality. It just depends on how hard you're willing to work to grab hold of it. I believe if you want something bad enough, it's yours. I'm sick of people telling me, my entire school career, that my dreams are too high. I will reach for what I want, and I don't care if I'm standing on the tips of my toes for it, I will make them mine.
What really matters is what happens in us. Not to us.
Both true, and untrue. They are the things that happen to us, that causes the change in us. There is no need to be afraid of change. Change is what keeps life moving. It is what keeps life from becoming mundane. Change is what is needed, to get us where we want to be.
I will survive this heartbreak. It will take time, tears, some trips to Dariy Queen, and a few friends, but I'm a survivor. This was needed, and will only make me stronger in the end.
