So, I finally managed to get to the ONE OK ROCK concert that was on last night. *_* I honestly wasn't sure I'd be able to go - I'd bid on a ticket on Y!J at the last minute just for the hell of it, expecting to be rejected again, and the girl actually sold it to me. The post brought the ticket to my door two hours before I had to leave and catch my bus to Tokyo, so things were cut very fine. XD;
Anyway. The girl who sold me the tickets was SUPER NICE. Not only did she fearlessly sell to a) a gaijin and b) a new member of Yahoo, but she asked me if I wanted to go with her and her friends if I was going alone. *_* I said yes, just because I'm trying to be more outgoing, and I'm glad I did because they were all absolutely lovely.
As for the concert itself - holy shit. Maybe the best concert I've been to yet in Japan? Certainly the best, most enthusiastic audience. As my friend William once put it, I 'danced like a whirling dervish on ecstacy'. XD Not only did the girl (her name was Rio) sell me a ticket, she sold me an AL;JKSDFLKJ BRILLIANT ticket. We were on the first floor, maybe a meter, two at most, away from the stage, on the right hand side in front of Alex (the hot semi-foreign former model guitarist). Shibuya AX is a fairly small hall, so I could see everyone in the band perfectly.
Taka is super genki, hahaha! I still say adamantly that leaving NEWS and JE was the best thing he could have done for himself, and he was so loud and enthuiastic in concert, it was wonderful to see. He came out whirling his microphone around by the cord, and I was a bit worried he'd hit himself in the head with it and concuss himself, but fortunately it didn't happen. XD He was bouncing all over the stage like a lunatic, jumping up on speakers and chattering at a million miles an hour, it was great. :D Toru is also an idiot, hahaha. During his self introduction he just entertained himself by seeing if he could get he crowd to yell out stupid shit (which they did, while the rest of the band laughed themselves silly) then at the end jumped up on the center speaker and struck a sentai-esque pose. XD After the laughter died down, Taka told him he was 'kimoi' (disgusting) and bitched him out for taking too long. XD XD XD
OMGWOW part of the night #1 was when all of the band noticed me (er, with the exception of Tomoya, given that he was behind his drums all night XD;). I was right up the front and obviously gaijin and a head taller than all the girls there, so I stood out. XD At one point Alex and Toru changed sides and Toru staa~red at me for a while, then Ryota came over and stared. XD; Taka stared at me a few times, and after he first noticed me, in the subsequent MC when all the members were introducing themselves, he demanded that Alex speak English! The girls I was with went apeshit and started patting me on the arms and back, but all Alex could manage was a nervous 'harro'. XD XD XD
OMGWOW part of the night #2 was in a different MC, Taka announced that ONE OK ROCK would be releasing DVD footage of the concert tour and oh, by the way THAT WAS THE NIGHT THEY WERE FILMING. Then he picked up a video camera from one of the guys in front and start filming the front of the audience! So I'm really hoping that I'll sneak into the DVD footage, haha, I was careful to wear all yellow and I stood out in the primarily black-clad crowd. Also, they'll be releasing a new album with the DVD in December, so yay for that! *_*
Sad part of the night was that Toru, Alex and Tomoya threw drumsticks and picks into the crowd LIKE THEY WERE CANDY, and not a single one came by me. ;_; Woe. I was all ready to catch one too!
So anyway. Awesome, awesome night, and I really wish I was still going to be in the country when they perform again next January. ;_; Sadly, I'll be leaving a month before hand (when I told the girls I was with last night that, they were like, "Eeee?! Why? Delay your return!" XD They were so cute!). ONE OK ROCK put on a brilliant show, I really heartily recommend them, and when I return to Japan with JET I'll definitely try and make it to another show!
(Now I have to get dressed and head out to Chiba - I'm going to an outdoor concert there. XD; The guy that sold me the tickets said they were for Beat Crusaders, but actually, Beat Crusaders only perform for an hour at the end, which was a bit creative on the seller's part! Still, the whole concert is apparently presented by them, so it should be pretty good anyway.)
