It's a sunny afternoon and I completely, and utterly, procrastinating. I should be writing the theory chapter for my disseration, but I'm actually taking the time out of my busy day to sit and write an entry on LJ cos i really, really don't have anything better to do. I also have nothing terribly exciting to update with either. Things are the same old same old, for I am an incerdibly boring person.
I've...sold a few dolls. I've sold lots of doll stuff. I've rescued and rehomed lots of guinea pigs, but unfortunatly there has been some epic stories involved with them that I'm too lazy to post now. Our most recent rescue was of 44 Guinea's from a travellers site. 44, fucking guinea pigs, all running with each other so of course all the females were pregant, with babies at foot too. We rang around several other local rescues and lots of people really pulled through and they're all now being kept in under observation as we wait for babies to pop out from the females, and/or any illnesses to pop out. They were are all tiny too - underfed things and incredibly inbred. I can only hope that they can now go on to live normal lives, albeit probably shortened ones, the poor things.
On the 23rd of July, my girl Emily (yep, I have girl piggies now...did I not mention that?) popped out six babies. Sadly only three survived - six is a huge litter and I'm sure the three that died all had some sort of genetic defect - they were all ginger and white, and all the ones that survived weren't. The three little babies didn't make it past a week. :( Even though Emily and Humbug were ex-breeding stock, you can never be 100% sure that the breeder was truely ethical in the practises, so it's possible things were not right somewhere along the line in either Humbug or Emily's lines. Anyway, the three surviving babies have gone on from strength to strength, and are really gorgeous babies. They're peru's, so they're dramatic and *everything* needs to be a drama. from getting picked up, or getting brushed, or even shooed out their house for their clean out - something dramatic needs to be squealed about. I now have a family of Perus' - Humbug (neutered) Emily, and their baby daughter Allsorts. Her brothers, Trouble and Tribble are looking for a home, but due to being Peru piggies they need an experienced home. Not to mention Tribble is a small piggy and has been more prone to throat/resp. infections than I would've liked, they'll need to be 100% indoors. No suitable home has come up yet....but we shall see. Got an ad in the local paper/edvertising thing specifically advertising those two, and another pair of boars I have looking for a home.
I had my last ever undergraduate lecture on friday, it wasn't as cathartic as I would've liked. I still have no idea what i want to do - postgrad, or go off and try and join the sspca. I'm really leaning towards the latter, as much as I love archaeology it is something I can always go back to, and while I can still do animal rescue on the side I wouldn't ever get to be an inspector when I'm old and aging. Whereas i can easily go back and prod bones and dead people in a postgrad at any age. My dad isn't too thrilled about the idea, but screw him as this is what i want to do. if I can figure out what i want to do, exactly. I really must get off my arse and enquire how essential an animal care course is. I can understand them wanting people to have one - after all, any old chump can go in and say they have experience with animals. But I genuinely do - even thinking about going to a local farm to work for a week or two to get experience with cows and sheep. (Which I have minimal experience with anyway). I've handled cats and dogs in medical examinations, and as for small animals....well. I'm pretty damn good with those wee buggers too. Horses I'm extrodinarly sure around, and while exotics are something I have minimal experience in, I'm sure a standard animal care course isn't going to be too busy around those either. Definatly worth finding out.
This is turning into a very long rant about animal care, isn't it? And while that's interesting, I'm sure it can be dull too. My personal life is pretty non-existent, disseration is taking over my life and most people I have contact with is over the internet on msn. As a result I have planned a few trips over the summer to visit online friends - so far I'm earmarked for the midlands (east AND west) and norfolk, where I shall be meeting my lovely archaeology friend Ms. Payne, and hopefully getting to play with some disarticulated human remains. (Must contact SHARP, Must contact SHARP). Other than that the only people I see on a semi-regualr basis are my classmates (not so regular now that classes have stopped), Robbie and my boy Lewis. Lewis and I are a very boring couple by most standards (but I still love him and we are great together as we both enjoy being boring), although we do have "date night" once a week where we try to make sure we go out and do something. Now we just need to re-kickstart things in the bedroom, where I shall admit, they are fairly dry and rather dull. ¬.¬ This is probably mostly my fault, as I am finding I cannot concentrate and very little libido. After my disseration (As I do not have the time) I am going to go and see about getting the coil instead of the injection. Hormones will be located to the one area, and hopefully I'll loose a couple of the kilo's I've put on. Walking with the good weather should help with that too. I have to admit that my horse riding is not really proper exercise anymore. I've reached a platue with that fitness wise...
DOLLS. I have Soom Heliot on order. He's gorgeous and is going to be a greatly massive flouncy thing. Jack, and Zombie Gretel have been sold. I've gained a souldoll Asiter. (and heliot) throughout this process. Despite myself I have organised a large doll meet at the end of april (after disseration is in) so I can see more dollie people and be social. In theory, in reality I may end up stabbing myself in the eye, but if the last meet is anything to go by the stupid, aggrivating people in scottish dollie world have been replaced by rather lovely people in the dollie world. Um, I have kinda got my groove back with pictures, but I just haven't really got around to posting any/having the time to do shoots. I am also trying desperatly to get back into photostories, one of which will get posted here pretty soon. They're nothing exciting, just nonsense.
And now, since I have just "plugged my brain into the USB port" and let spill, I shall now bore you with piggy pictures and some dollie ones.
This is the family Peru. From l-r baby Allsorts (so named by my mother because I was trying to think of a "sweet" name - she thought liqorice but she's not black, but is "allsort) Daddy Humbug, the Diva-est Pig on the planet and then mummy Emily, who is a fat grubber and now could do with losing some of the weight she's put on after having babies. (Or she may be pregant. I hope to god she's not)
This is Tribble (left) and Trouble. These are Allsorts brothers, and they're monsters. They get into everything they shouldn't, always have their little baby pig willies out (and get their long hair stuck in them!) and scream for each other when seperated, but squabble like only brothers can when they are together. This is to be expected, they are pure bred Perus, after all. (Yes, Trouble is at that "akward stage" with his hair. I am beginning to have suspisions his akward stage will never go away)
This is Hamish (left) and Panda. They're lovely piggies looking for a new home and being kindly fostered by my friend Amy...here's hoping someone takes them soon as it was meant to be temporary. =S
This is some of the 44 from the gypsy site. as you can see they are terrified things, and compare the one in the middle to fatty emily and you'll see how small the poor things are. They're just petrified of people, but are slowly coming around.
Pip has a new face. =D
And this is Gabriel.
Isn't my life thrilling? xD Yes, Photostory coming soon. Maybe later today if I'm in the mood.
Also, make sure to check out Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. I am *obbsessed* with it. Obbsessed.
