Sorry me hasn't posted for so long cos I'm a lazy git with a big, fluffy tail and twelve claws on each patte.
My Christmas has been ridiculously lazy so far. I'm terrified at the prospect of hearing whether I'll get into Cambridge or not and even more terrified of the prospect of a 2nd interview if I get pooled... I had a nightmare about that last night. :( I have to get down to reading stuff in French and German again instead of indulging in filmfests of quiverring American women (hint hint Streetcar and The Great Gatsby). I hate Mia Farrow though perhaps I can stand Vivian Leigh! It's only through the film of Streetcar that I've really got to sympathise with Blanche and her nervous complaint a bit more...
Apart from that I haven't got down to reading up the Mussolini notes and the closest I've got to doing work is reading totally unrelated Cranford. To be honest, it's pleasant and light-hearted but rather gossipy and slightly disappointing compared to Wives and Daughters as well as North and South, as Cranford concentrates on more characters and is presented as a set of observations of female society rather than having a secure storyline.
I'm excited about going to London on New Year's Eve for the fireworks if the weather's good!!! :) Shame Poix will be celebrating in Dublin because I'll miss her dreadfully!
