Well,3 days into the new job. Its a right mucking fess. 5 sites, using split NT domains with trusts that fuck up when they feel like it. An exchannge 5.5 email system setup with one site, across 5 domains, with mail in all the wrong places. Dear lord. They are part way through a miration to 2003 but they need to go back 4 steps and sort some of the NT stuff out as its going to come back and bite. Does have a decent VPN & firewall system tho.
The actual Network side of things isn't bad, as thats already been sorted, but I can see where other things will fall out tho.
People I work with are nice enough, and the others there seem to be OK so far. I've already been tipped off about the ones that just give you ball ache.
The real pain in the arse there is their MRP system. It runs on crap hardware, and its even more crap as the software is a VB/ODBC/outlook forms/crystal reports job. Its a total nightmare, badly written as it doesn't check for table locks etc.
Nevermind.
The bog didn't get finished. I've got one coat on the walls, but thats as far as I have got. Must try and do some of it tomorrow night when I get in. Things still todo, which I MUST do:
Paint walls again
Gloss skirting, door frame, window cill & cistern.
Box pipework
Sort out door
Sort out some flooring
Anyhow, I'd better get some stuff burnt off as I'm going to have space issues again before long
