This reminds me of an assignment I had to do earlier this semester.
It involved graphing data that was more than one Excel column (36,546 rows) long. Which meant it was impossible to do in Excel (you can only graph a single column).
And my lecturer had no idea about this. In fact, he just told me to use some other program. Further, about half the class probably didn't know how to use Excel anyway. About half the class failed that half of the assignment. And it was just "Oh, too bad".
Why don't they tell you anything in third year? Why? Why? Why? Even if half the class doen't show up for lectures, you could still tell the people who actually bother to come how to do the assignment.
