So I just decided to look at UC Davis online, to see about their language program. It makes me happy, for these reasons:
1) German program offers study abroad (my cousin did this at UCD and she loved it)
2) YOU CAN TAKE RUSSIAN YESYESYESYES.
3) There is also Italien, of course, and French.
But here is the most exiting thing:
4) Every single language program has a specific course on translation!...!
I guess I just found that really exciting, so there it is. I am only sad that they don't have any Arabic courses, or Welsh, but I didn't really expect the Welsh bit, that's not anywhere. And I don't think they have Sign Language either, but I guess I can learn that on my own.
Basically, I want to master German, Russian, French, and Italien in that order (of importance I suppose). And I want to be able to translate all of them, but I'll still be satistfied if I can only really translate/speak German fluently. Oh and sign language, let's not forget that. Language is amazing! It's how we most articulately (or perhaps inarticulately) communicate our thoughts and ideas. Studying languages, seeing how they are so different, and so similar....I find fascinating.
Also looked at their music program. As an undergrad you can major in performance, to get an M.A. or PhD, you can only major in music education or music theory or some other boorish thing I really can't remember. Now I neglected to see if I could minor in musical performance, since I'd rather focus on language, or then again, would I? Decisions, decisions....not that I even know that I will be attending UCD, just thinking about it and researching. Quite pleased with the results, I must say.
