So I added something to the userinfo a few days ago, but for some reason it didn't even occur to me to actually bring it to discussion. (Sorry other mods and everyone!)
Anyway, I added this:
"NOTICE: Due to recent epidemics of trolling, membership is restricted. New journals, or journals that look troll-like, will be declined membership. Sorry."
The sentiment was already agreed upon, I understand, because of the crazy trolling we had. I just felt it should reflect that on the userinfo.
But this brings up a few questions:
1) Do we want to maintain this moderated membership thing indefinitely? I'm actually kinda against it, myself, but I'm not really making an objection. And if we do it, we pretty much have to do it constantly, as we don't know when the major trollage will strike.
2) What kind of approval system will we have? At the end of the day, new LJs should be able to join, or else we won't really get new members, right? Maybe some kind of "Hey, I know this new person, she's cool" kinda vouch system?
3) Should we redesign the userinfo? This is just incidental, but hey, it's as good a time as any? Any ideas of what we could have for the profile?
