Georgia and the USA have signed the Strategic Partnership Charter. The leaving administration of the USA decided to expand military cooperation with Georgia and to assist in its joining the NATO. Russia still keeps silent, expecting Barak Obama coming to power.
“For the first time forom the beginning of the newest history period Georgia starts strengthening in the international system. Earlier all these attempts were unsuccessful.
I would like to remind that the Baltic countries’ joining was preceded by registration of the similar document. Despite it, the given process is full of hardship, and we should pass still a long way. But it is a step forward in this direction, very important new stage in rapprochement of Georgia and the NATO along with the Euroatlantic space.
This document is not a solution to all problems of Georgia, but if it was concluded some years or at least one year ago we had been able to avoid a lot of bad.
The word “strategic” had never been mentioned in these relations earlier. America in general uses this word very seldom, concerning only very few countries. Always, when Washington uses it, it carries concrete political and other sense. Therefore this document is not only updating of what have occurred till now, but it concerns things that should occur in our bilaterial relations.
America is such a country that how different the political platforms were, there is no republican or democratic foreign policy. There are only fundamental principles of the American policy, so relations with the United States are attractive for very many countries. At the same time the work connected with execution of the free trade contract the USA will begin with”.
