I guess when it all comes down to it, it all depends on how much enjoy the game because video games are just that games that people play for fun. I mean sure we can take games too seriously to the point where we create fansites, forums as well as any other fan created content or complain about what is canon is this game or what is not in this game but in the end when it is all said and done, it is only a game and we are people who just happen to enjoy games.
I do not consider myself to be a core gamer but I am a still a farcry from a casual gamer, I don't really see to much of a difference nowadays since I had adopted a philosophy from a book where I say, "Ours is not a better way, ours is just another way." Meaning that even if I am a core gamer, I am not necessarily "better" than a casual gamer rather I just know a little more about the games I am playing that is all. Personally, I kind of agree with Miyamoto-san (I use -san right?) that games are meant for everyone to play whether you are core, casual or somewhere in between.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy most of the games that are targeted at core gamers now and again but sometimes I want to play games with my dad, mom or cousins where we can all enjoy the games we play and not have to worry about too much violence and what not. Although there are some games that are family games on XBox 360 and PS3, majority of those games are targeted at core gamers who just happen to be fanboys of a particular series. I don't consider myself to a Nintendo fanboy but I do enjoy their games where I can play with my friends and family and to be honest, I can only find a few of those games on Xbox 360 and PS3.
Nintendo has always been a system for everyone whether they be core or casual where games can range from incredibly difficult to insanely fun. I agree that with Miyamoto-san we shouldn't just cater to the core audience but to everyone who wants play games.
