thoughts on the closing winter
here's a little bit before i run off to school to chop up some paper, and start some sketches...
i didn't realize how elated i have been due to the change in weather. i step outside, and it's just bliss. i wake up feeling a lot better about things in general. there's even a distinct smell that i thoroughly enjoy.
this past season has been rather different from how i remember the winter as being. everyone always talks about how the season is the most depressing, and produces the highest suicide rate, etc. etc. but i never realized how oddly true it was.
in a discussion about local artists, my friend david stated that the reason that the midwest (in my opinion, the whole eastern half of the U.S.) produces such good artists is because we have this offset season that makes everyone feel a little bit more comfortable. i completely agree.
i suppose it's a good thing that i've had my life out here in michigan, but i'm ready for a serious change. i want to leave so bad, and i would if there weren't any really negative consequences.
anyway, all-in-all, this season is done for me. i've been waiting for this spring for a while (though i've heard news of snow coming later this week).
