Not having transportation, when you live i the country, sucketh. Majorly. I asked my landlord, Artie, who has a truck repair shop, to look out for a new, old car for me. Where I will get the money from, I have no idea. My old car has been disabled for almost three years, and while it is fixable, it is a '94, and has a lot of miles on it. Also, I had let my license expire, so I got to go through the whole 5 hour course thing again, plus the written test, and the road test. Oy! But, since I have had Fibromyalgia, I can only deal with one major thing at a time.
In the past three years, it has been one thing after another: My move from an abode I had lived in for 8 years, to my new place, Guav's wedding, and my knee surgery and recovery. I'm feeling ready to tackle the whole car thing now.
Meanwhile, I have to make arrangements with friends to help me out. So, I called Laura the other day to see how she was doing, since I only saw her on the fly last week, as she was leaving her doctor appointment. Coincidentally, she was trying to reach me to let me know that she was planning to come see me and drop off money she owed "The Boys", from back when they were helping her pack up her trailer before she moved into the family care residence she's in.
Laura asked me if I needed her to pick up anything in town before she came out here, and I said I needed dog food and my meds. I had already called in my prescriptions for renewal. Natch, she said Okay.
Now, the hounds were without food Sunday morning, and I didn't want to keep them waiting till Laura arrived with the vittles, so I cooked for them, starving critters that they were. They devoured the gruel of rice, eggs, tuna, nutritional yeast, and shredded beets that I cooked up, without any ceremony.
When Laura got here, she had brought lunch with her, so we chowed down, and visited, while the doggies had a real meal. Alas, the pharmacy hadn't been open when Laura was there, so I was still without my meds. So, I called Annette, in the off chance that Artie might send her to town to pick up parts at NAPA. Bingo! I lucked out, and that is exactly what happened, but the problem remained to get them from Annette. SOOO, after a short nap, Laura and I drove over to Artie and Annette's, picked up my meds, and hung out, visiting for an hour or so. Then, Laura brought me home, and took her leave.
Yesterday, Annette had to go to Elmira, and she swung by to pick me up, dropping me in Watkins so I could do my food shopping while she was in Elmira doing her business.Happily, I got several 1/2 yard pieces of some really nice fabrics with which to make purses to contribute to my club to help them raise money for their camping trip which is coming right up.. I also got wooden dowels and large holed beads to form the handles for Bea's and the other purses. They're going to work out beautifully. I tried out the beads as the end stops for the dowels, last night. Not only do they fit, but they look kick ass with the mermaid fabric I'm making Bea's purse out of, and the dowels just happen to be the perfect length, so, no sawing is neccessary.. Woot! WooT! I'll probably sit down with that project today.
Annette was an hour later than she had forecast coming to retrieve me, but I was prepared! I had my crocheting along with me, and sat and worked on the shawl I'm making for the fundraising effort for the club. So, I was happily busy when at last she arrived, and I got a good jumpstart on the shawl, which I hope to be able to bring in, completed, to the club tomorrow.
Got home, put away the most perishable groceries, and crashed for a couple of hours. The muggy heat just whips me!
So, despite setbacks and obstacles, everything got done, thanks to the help of my friends.
Made a nice Seafood Alfredo for supper last night. Yum!
It is now 7 A.M., and I have already drunk my 4 cups of water, had the dogs out, watered all my plants, and done 300 rounds on my exercycle! Go me! I'm off to color my hairs, which I cut myself this weekend.
