To Market, To Market....

So Corlin swung by to take me food shopping and we opted for going locally to our friendly neighborhood Menonite Bulk Foods store. Poor Autumn has been sick all week with a stomach bug, so she wasn't her usual ebullient self.

The store is great for people who cook and bake a lot from scratch. The herbs and spices are so much less than at the regular grocery stores, and you know how much they can run you if you buy Mc Cormicks or other name brands. Corlin bought a big bottle of vanuilla extract for the same price she paid for one half its size elsewhere just last week.

I got 5 lbs.of honey for just a smidgepn over $11, averaging slightly over $2.00 a pound, which is excellent. They have all sorts of noodles , flours for those who bake, nuts, seeds, even cheeses and some meats from the Mennonite butcher around the corner.
There are cereals, and cookies, pretzels, popping corn, nutritional yeast ( great on popped corn, although they also have cheese powders for popcorn, as well), cappucinos, canned goods, all at cut rates. So, it's always fun going there. I try to get most of my groceries there and at wal-mart, and thereby am able to make my food dollars go so much further. Oh, and they also have the components for candy making, naelany, take note, and good luck tomorrow at the craft fair selling the candies you made up with Dustin. Bet you two had sweet dreams!

So yeah. Just got home, and Dad called. I dream of the ways I could spoil him.

Marianne and Sandy stropped by earlier to pick up, and drop off. Sandy gave me a couple of pieces of granite from her stash, th
that I need to weigh down my mailbox, and to pick up her iron that she lent me when I was making neckties for Guav's wedding party.
I gave Marianne a nice portion of the Feta cheese that Hurricane Annette gave me. We both like Greek salads.

Tomorrow morning Marianne is picking me up to go to watkins Glen so we can get our flu vaccines at a clinic they're having at the High School.

I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped, once again, but slow and steady wins the race. Or so I've been told. At least progress is being made.

Have a good weekend all! Toodles!

friends, home
