I seem to have failed to mention our Disneyland trip! No sightings of the rare Mickey Mouse, but I have determined, after an 8 year lapse, that Space Mountain is still definitely my favorite ride. And that I'm not alone.
Ted and I drove down to LA late one Friday in February to celebrate a combination of Valentine's Day, our anniversary, and a 4-day weekend; we spent a couple nights with his uncle and managed to pick the sunny day (V-Day) to drive out to MouseTown (after super sleeping in; oops). At the end of the night was, like, the most awesome fireworks show ever. Seriously. We missed Fantasmic though; the line at Space Mountain was too long, even at 10pm. Also, you can now go inside the castle, inside which you visually experience the story of Sleeping Beauty set within the walls. Oh, and the lines, as expected, were _ridiculously_ long everywhere. Even just to get into the park took around an hour, lol. I wanna go back and see the rest of it.
The drive home 2 days later took much longer; we decided to take the scenic route home and drove up a combination of 101 and 1 rather than the boring yucky I-5. And fortunately for us, as that day was stormy and the Grapevine was... apparently closed. Late in the afternoon, we stopped at Hearst Castle for a tour and saw a plethora of Middle-Ages lavishness set in the beautiful San Simeon countryside. I'm still not entirely sure what possessed me to suggest we take highway 1 back through Big Sur from there after dinner... I'd wanted to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the drive, but by the time we were heading through Big Sur... it was dark... and rainy... and the roads were wet and windy. We had to pull over and I got out of the car just to convince myself we were near water. :P
That's all for now. Back to the doldrums.
