Yay ballroom privates have started again! We have been waiting in eager anticipation to finally have someone nitpick our dancing. We had a lesson with both Silke (latin) and Aira (standard) on Saturday. I got Aira all to myself for awhile b/c Lyell had to be late, so she worked on my heel turns with me. Silke increased the number of things for us to think about on our walks, and styled my curl so that it's cooler now ^_^.
What made me happy: At the start of our lesson, Silke asked us if we were working on open routines, and we were like no... we probably have the same routine as the couple you just had in your previous lesson (everyone that day decided to work on rumba with her lol). But then at the end of our lesson, she again asked us when we were going to graduate into open and start working on routines... and we just kinda gave her this funny look and were like "we just graduated bronze...." She seemed surprised, and just said "oh, well you're dancing above your level..." =).
Too bad my dancing is still riddled with me doing stupid things, like sticking my head out like a turtle. Yeah, that will look quite attractive in an open routine. Sigh. And I do rather ugly things with my arm sometimes too, apparently. And we were doing a cha-cha-i-fied rumba. Meaning, we seemed to have missed the point of the dance. But no more! ...I hope.
Lyell and I are going to try taking a class at Genesis in SF this Wednesday. I am greatly looking forward to it. I'll take all the technique help I can get =). I just hope I don't look retarded, since it seems to be more of an advanced level class from what I hear.
Celebrated Sharla's/Julia's/Dima's birthdays Saturday night, during which we played Cranium. I got to watch
shallwedance_ do a Marilyn Monroe impression =D. Fun times. Had brunch with
stellae,
ternarybits, and
zestyping Sunday morning, followed by a dinner party that also included Alissa and Ted's cousin Alvin and a watching of "Kiss Me Kate". Ted made yummy lasagna, I made some chicken, Alissa made the garlic bread, and Liz supplied the wine. (There was no actual lisping during dinner, however, but I listed it.) Teehee. *laughs at her lame joke and wonders if anyone else will get it*
My mom dropped by on Saturday night and brought me a monitor I now have plugged into my computer, so I can actually see what I'm doing! Much thanks to
ternarybits for the use of his laptop for a couple weeks. Unfortunately, my computer doesn't seem to have gotten over its completely unfounded hatred for me in those weeks, so it has now taken me over an hour to complete this post. Thus, I am now going to go flop over in bed, rather than showering and doing econ as I'd planned.
And I shall no doubt dream of ballroom, or something related. Certainly not of econ, anyway. =)
