Hi All,
Things will be a little different this month. Folks appear to have gotten tired of IHOP (I've been the only person there a couple times). So I want to start changing things up again for the pre-First Saturday Sale dinner meet.
I'll be celebrating the arrival of Teal Fox to the DFW area with friends at the
Addison Flying Saucer (see link for address) on Friday, April 1st from 8pm onward. Anyone who can see this is welcome to join me. Then, around 10:30 or 11pm, anyone who's up for it will carpool down to the
First Saturday Sale (parking is $3/car) for a while. The weather should be around the high 60's with a chance of rain.
For *next* month (Friday, May 6th) , I'd like to start searching for a new downtown pre-sale dinner haunt. Prior to settling on IHOP, we tried BuzzBrews (OK food & good coffee, but too cramped), Fireside Pies (*terrific* food, but slow, no group seating, and expensive), and Cafe Brazil (excellent food & coffee but too crowded and noisy). Zapnut has suggested the Metro cafe (a greasy spoon Dallas landmark), but it is closing down this month so no go there. I've done some searching via the web, but I honestly don't the have time or energy to go try many places prior to next month's meet. Can anyone suggest any places in downtown Dallas that might meet our needs? Said dining establishment needs to:
1) Be in or very near downtown Dallas.
2) be open until at *least* 11pm.
3) be able to seat a dynamic crowd of anywhere from 1 to about 15 people without having to split us up, wait for the entire group to arrive prior to seating, etc. Movable tables are ideal.
4) have a good variety of food so those with different tastes or allergies can still eat there.
5) have reasonable prices (ex, you can eat a good meal with drink for $7-$15).
If anyone has any suggestions, please give a shout here. Thanks!
