Topic: Desert Island

If you were left on a desert island, what three things would you take along?

I guess the correct answer would be something involving shelter or a way to make it, a way to catch food, and some kind of water collection and purification device. (Which no one's thought of yet, surprisingly enough. What do you people drink? Hawaiian Punch?)

And still, somehow...I don't think I could survive without my camera. As silly as that sounds. Music, maybe...maybe I could play in my head. Go crazy while I do it? Sure. But I have music playing in my head near-constantly, so it's not like it would be a big change. My fear would be forgetting what it sounded like.

But my camera? No, I'd give up shelter for my camera. Is film separate? I'd give up the fishing gear for my film. (Maybe a digital camera, then...even though I utterly loathe digicams. And even a digital camera runs out of memory.)

While we're riding on wishes, here...I'd like to have books. Ideal universe. Contrary to popular belief, I don't spend all my time with my face attached to the viewfinder...a good, sustaining novel can really suck me in.

And, um, clothes. A couple changes of clothes. Because...yeah.

But in real life, my camera and film. And a water purifier. And from there I'll figure out how not to die. I did see CastAway, after all. And Swiss Family Robinson. And I read My Side of the Mountain...a LOT.
