Strike spread from The Fox's Den, I found out throug Kermit the Frog's LJ. You see, they've taken away the ability to make new Basic accounts.
From the original post:
"For one day, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ.
SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site.
So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT.
This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase.
Who's with me, and what date shall it be?
This Friday, March 21."
Not viewing LJ at all during those 24 hours was also suggested...
...Well, this strike model is a good idea for future changes, if nothing else. :P Hey, we should stop their screwing around early before another Strikethrough happens... :P
EDIT: Wowzers. Lookie what I found from an OT post on the_ass_ship:
"Guess what? being any form of not-straight is apparently something they frown upon, too! To wit, Bisexuality, among other words, have been removed from the LJ Popular Interests page. Link goes to a grid showing pre-strikethrough numbers and current ones."
...And also, "boys kissing boys" was removed, but "gay porn" was left on. Weird...
