I don’t understand.
Yes, our treatment of the Earthbound Ones… That was evil. And the way the queen treated dissenters… that was evil too. We… if there is a power higher than ourselves and Lavos, I suppose it should have punished us for that. We should have been brought down.
But the fountains, the flames, the winds, the gardens, all the myriad creations of magic, the floating cities, the great multicolored birds above and the shining marble floors below, the blue streams and green grass and white palaces…
Those were not evil.
Why did they have to be destroyed too?

I was once a prince of the greatest kingdom ever to exist.
Now my only kingdom is a horde of deformed mutants, likely fallout from the ruins of our magical experiments. My suspicions are reinforced by their unusual skill with magic - in this far-flung future, where humans struggle to so much as light a candle . I should be disgusted -
I don’t care.
They are useful.
And with their support, I shall gain the power to summon accursed Lavos, and destroy its evil once and for all. No other kingdom shall ever suffer the fate of Zeal.
