I noticed this the other day, but the water was running dry, there was a small trickle then it suddenly stopped. I went to the roof to see what was wrong and found the containers used to store water were empty. I think the person who used to do this vanished, I wasn't overly familiar with them, but I asked around a bit and got there name. His name ( Read more... )

I only know of one other person who takes care of refilling the tanks. A reservoir would certainly come in handy.

Then it's a good thing I'm helping. That would be a lot to put on one person.

Indeed. I suppose I could help with that-- as soon as I get my powers back, at least.

That's very kind of you to offer. I hope you can do that without complications.

That... depends on what you consider a complication.

Hmm, well, I guess dying is a complication people were having. Or, when powers go haywire and do a lot of unforeseen things that are an inconvenience.

I was lucky, nothing happened unless I tried to use my powers.

In that case, I suppose there won't be any complications; I should be able to perform the job just fine, granted people can meet the requirements.

Requirements? What sort of requirements do you have?

I am bound to the rules of equivalent exchange; in order for the to perform this kind of task, a price would have to be paid.

I see, that makes sense. Nothing in the world is free after all, someone must pay for it. It makes me think of my mother, she had an incredible ability, the ability to heal almost anything. But, with each person she healed, a little bit of her life was taken for it.

That is a very steep price, indeed-- then again, such is the value of life. Your mother was certainly a noble woman, to have an ability like that.

It runs in our family, the royal family of Sforzando is considered some of the strongest magical lineages in the world, and the queen is the only one with such a power. It's the queens role to care for her people like a mother as well, and love all and protect them. Not once did she ever refuse helping someone, even when advisers suggested she not....

Sometimes I wish I could do such a thing as well, to help relieve her burden. Sadly I was never very good at healing magic. I can only do minor first aid.

Healing magic is, indeed, one of the most difficult to master-- because it takes experience, and demands too much from the healer. It's the price for saving a life.

You might still improve one day, Lute-san. You do seem very talented.

Once I was able to heal two people who needed it very badly. But, as you said the cost was very grate, it was worth it too, but... I think if I repeated it it would make people sad.

They would be sad over the price you paid, or is there another reason?

Well, the price was quite high. It was sort of the last thing I could do for them. But, it was okay, I was glad to give myself for them. I can't imagine anyone else I would have wanted to live on more than the two of them.
