It's really become pretty hasn't it? It reminds me of the east in spring, or just spring in general in an orchard. If you focus on the trees you can almost forget it's winter. Not that winter is bad or anything, because it's not! It's a beautiful part of the cycle just like all the other seasons!

The cycle of the seasons, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Each one is special in it's own way.

Are those the names of the other seasons...?

Keigo told me little bit about the fall, and... lots of people were talking about how cold it can get in the winter.

You don't know about the seasons?

Yes, right now where in winter, which is cold and when the trees and plants look dead. After winter is spring, when everything warms up and things grow again and the world is full of life. Then there's summer, which is the hottest time of year. Things dry out and produce fruit and things. Fall is when the trees and plants start to die off again. When crops get harvested and it begins to get cold again. And then, we come back to winter, where everything is dormant.

No... I'm sorry.

In my own world, there is only one season. It's very chilly, and you can't see the sky down in the lower levels. I heard that you can see it in the upper levels, and that it even snows sometimes, but... I've never been there before.

Do these seasons happen all year round?

You don't have to be sorry, we all come from different places right?

That sounds like the north. In the north it's very cold, it's cold almost all the time.

There are four a year. So it takes a year to go through them, they make up the year.

Yes. You're right.

The... north? I'm not sure. I don't really know a whole lot about the rest of the world. For me, the underground has been my whole world until I was brought here.

So it can feel like something new is happening all the time, isn't it?

Well, in my world the north was cold. Perhaps in other worlds the sun is in a different place?

That's a wonderful way to put it! Yes, it's like something new and beautiful is always about to happen.

Is that what can change the weather?

You... really think so? Thank you! That's very nice of you to say.

I don't think that I caught your name before. My name is Nill. And you are?

It's based off the worlds tilt, and how direct the sunlight is. The further to the middle of the world you go the less the seasons change, and the more north you go the more the seasons change.

I do!

I'm sorry! I should have said something sooner. I'm Lute, it's realy nice to meet you Nill.

The world can tilt? But then... how come you can't feel it? If that happened, then wouldn't you be able to feel the earth moving with your feet? Like one of those earthquakes?

It's really nice to meet you too Lute!

It moves so slowly we can't feel it, and the earth is always moving, it spins around, that's how the sun rises and sets. In winter the earth tilts one way, and in summer the other. Or, maybe it was during it's journey around the sun the tilted side faces the sun...?

I have to apologize, I don't remember these things that well, this is more science and I'm a magic user. Though, I loved to read all the books we had in our library.

Oooh... I didn't know about that. I always kind of wondered what made the sun rise and fall everyday too.

You don't have to apologize at all, Lute. I feel like I am able to learn a lot from you this way!

You can use magic?

Really? I still wish I could explain it better.

I can! Once people used to call me one of the most talented magic users in our world.

I wouldn't worry too much. I could understand the way you explained it pretty well.

One of the most talented...? Really? What kind of magic can you use?

I'm glad, though, I'm afraid I might have gotten something wrong.

Well, I don't know about that, that's just what people said.

Um, I could use a lot! Summon magic, protection magic, dispel, elemental, teleportation, I was always learning new ones every day too.
