A new semester and resolutions

Jan 13, 2014 21:10

First...thank everyone for their birthday wished to me. I...I really appreciate it.

Also...I decided to make a resolution for this year. I...I resolve to...participate in my classes. Or at least try...This year....I...I won't just sit in the back and watch quietly...or...I'll try.

Trying's good. Participating when you don't want to, not so much. Don't let people say otherwise.

Hiyoshi-kun, please stop suggesting that he start acting as uncooperative as you often are.

Uncooperative? You of all people know I share my opinions freely.

Uncooperative as in not participating in the capacity asked of you. Heaven knows you definitely enjoy being vocal about your not wanting to cooperate though.

It's not so simple as that. Like all thinking men, I follow suggestion or not in accordance to my own personal judgment.

Yes, making up your own mind when it comes to suggestions is good...when it's offered to you as such. There's a difference between that and doing what you are actually told to do though. There is no "suggestion" involved when it comes to the schoolwork you are required to complete to pass a class with the best grade you can get.

...You see...the thing is...I...never really want to. But I need to...because I...I'm going to be a teacher...some day ...and I have to...be able to talk in public and in crowds.

What do you want to teach? Some teachers show their students, others talk at them. And still others go on and on about how ~uncooperative~ a certain one of their students are even while they're actually trying to help.

Don't laugh, okay....

I...I want to teach home ec. Sewing and cooking and things like that...

I might have laughed if you said "public speaking," but only for the irony.

As for home economics, it's not bad, and lectures aren't to be had. Isn't it more like, "Watch me to learn the techniques, and for everything else there are instructions and recipes"? One-on-one then is vastly different than speaking at a room.

I...I'd never be able to do that...

Usu. It is. But...there would still be times...I have to talk to a lot of people...all at once...

What, teacher of the Year acceptance speech or something? All that stuff is pre-planned, and then it's just reading.

N...No. Just...assemblies...and things. And reading out loud...is part of the power...

[ooc: I'm going to assume Kaba's made something in front of Hiyoshi by now. Probably his snow mobile]

Schools employ dozens of other teachers who can assembly for you. But see? You're no stranger to reading. It's not hard.

[ooc: Oh glorious snow mobile. That he probably didn't get too far on, hah]

It is...when things appear...all the time. But I'm getting better at only the things I want...showing up.

But...it's still a nice resolution to have...

Then your resolution should be on power practice instead of straining yourself over something it sounds like another person has asked you to do.
