When Queen Tatiana summoned Lissa to another meeting after Victor's trial concluded, Rose settled onto her couch, watching from Lissa's head at her invitation again. Again the queen wanted something and this time she was offering a carrot in return - if Lissa came to live at Court after she graduated St. Vlad's, the queen was going to allow her to go to Lehigh University instead of one of the tiny colleges that the guardians protected. Lissa's excitement made Rose smile at the utter nerdiness of it. Lissa would do almost anything to be able to go to a more prestigious college, and it seemed like Tatiana was going to give her the opportunity - if Lissa lived with her during it of course.
Rose knew that they would have more freedom if they didn't have to live at Court, of course, but Lissa couldn't help accepting the offer and the better school especially after the queen had admitted Lissa had made good points the other day. It would have been hard to determine which of the girls was more surprised when the queen asked Lissa to send Rose to see her next.
Hurrying from the guest quarters towards the queen's reception room, Rose met Lissa halfway before going on. She bowed carefully, reminding herself to be diplomatic. The plan went out the window almost immediately as she was greeted by an accusation of using her slutty body and irresponsible self to distract the queen's great-nephew from his destined alliance with Lissa. Rose wasn't actually sure what she took most offense towards - the fact that the queen thought she wanted to seduce Adrian, the completely insane idea that Lissa and Adrian were going to be married, the insults about Rose's past record, or the 'offer' to find another guardian for Lissa if Rose wouldn't cooperate and end her 'dalliance' with Adrian immediately.
It wasn't Rose's favourite conversation ever though she was proud of herself for managing not to lose her temper at the queen. That would probably have ended with Rose on a plane to a blood whore commune before she could manage to turn around. She escaped the queen's room as soon as she was dismissed, ready to get on the plane and get out of this hellhole as soon as possible. She didn't manage to miss the fact that Dimitri had been completely right about her needing to pay attention to Moroi politics.
