The Master would TOTALLY use dead-people gold to gain control of the TARDIS. Or just as a souvenir because it's gold made from dead people :P

Jack and Barbara should either a) rescue someone from a crumbling mine or b) rescue the other from a crumbling mine.

Your choice :D Unless you've an even more stupendous idea than I? (entirely probable, I had this idea as I was waking up...)

OMG HAY! What if they go rescue some people from a crumbling mine and Jack gets trapped making sure the last few gets out and Barbara has to then rescue HIM?

WE CAN SO DO THAT YESYES! And then, maybe while Jack is trapped in there, he can find piles of golden nuggets and abandoned equipment! That could then give them clues are scare them or something like that ^_^
