The GREAT HURRICANE SEASON OF DOOOOOOOOMMMMM

Sep 21, 2005 21:01

So, now that I've had time to sit and think objectively, I'm cool, calm and reasonably collected. I've spent the last few afternoons doing NOTHING. As a result, I'm now behind on my schedule made for Svelte's b-day pressie plan -_-; THat's ok. I'm confident I can catch up this weekend ( Read more... )

That's crazy! O_O I hope Rita doesn't go anywhere near you and that it won't damage as much even if it's a category five...*gonk*

My wishes are with you. *hugs* Best of luck. ^_^

Isn't it? And so fast too! And the damn thing is SLOWING DOWN!!! I'm like NO DAMN IT!!! COME FASTER!!! The closest track puts the center about . . . maybe 150-200 miles away. BUT we would still be on the east side which is the BAD side - the side with all the water being pushed inland.

The pressure indicates how much damage it's gonna do . . . that along with sustained winds. I'm not sure what the pressure is right now . . . I think it's on par with Katrina. They're saying it'll weaken to a 4 just before landfall but 4s are just as bad.

Thanks! We need a little good luck. *hugs*

I saw the newspaper today and it said that it's still at 5- dang, if only the US could build a series of islands right at that area, it would probably help slowing down the hurricanes so that the damages aren't this bad. @_@

More and more best wishes! *glomps*

Actually there is . . . or there used to be - the Chandeleurs used to be a natural barrier along the Louisiana coast. After so many strong hurricanes over the years (particularly Lily), they've eroded to the point of uselessness.

Would the investment of rebuilding those islands would atleast save some money in the long run?

Wahh! So glad we still have contact with you! ^_^

They've actually been fighting for THAT for years - part of the 'SAVE OUR WETLANDS' campaign (along with several other plans), but the federal governent . . . or I should say Congress hasn't seen fit to help us out and give us funds.

Actually, you'll have contact with me for some time. I'm gonna be home trying to prepare (note: trying), and we can't leave until mom gets off work and packs (we can't pack for her cuz she's so particular). WE probably won't be leaving till well after dark.

By the way, my cell works ^_^ So, if you want to call or would like me to call you, just do so or let me know (I can do three things at once XD).
