there's nothing wrong with your television

...or with movie screens, or anything else. Well, maybe a few things. But you know what a traditional picture is infinitely better than?

3D FILMS.

Seriously. I saw the new Alice In Wonderland last night, and while it was a fairly good movie and certainly entertaining, the 3D aspect of it was wholly obnoxious to the point that the movie was uncomfortable to watch. It bleached the color out of everything, it was disorienting, it screwed with the camera focus, it was hard to see more than 60% of the screen at a time, and you simply couldn't tell what was going on during any busy action sequence. It's important to note an important philosophy here:

Just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should. Because there's nothing wrong than traditional film images! The picture can have plenty of depth without things popping out of the screen at me, and if you can't make things look right without the technology then it just means you don't know how to pick the best lighting/angle for a shot, not that the technology isn't good enough for you.

This techno-gimmick needs to die out, and quickly. It certainly didn't make the movie better.
