Somewhere in a Car | Friday Afternoon

As much as Dimitri agreed that there was no other choice, Abe's plan had bothered him from the beginning. It wasn't that he thought the plan wouldn't work, more that Dimitri hated the thought of destroying Rose's already insanely precarious record. There wasn't a lot of precedence for fugitives returning to their positions, innocent or not.

They'd not shared the plan with Rose, but everyone had a role in how things would turn out. Lissa had done her part, walking in Queen Tatiana's funeral procession. Christian and Mikhail had set the explosives to draw the guardians away from the minimum security cells and out into the streets. Abe had acquired everything Dimitri requested and more. And Dimitri had smiled for the cameras as he broke Rose out of jail.

A high speed chase had meant a quick stop in Harrisburg where Rose had picked up an ugly hat and Dimitri a nondescript sedan. His skills weren't all fight-related.

Now as they headed down roads that would lead to their first approved stop, Dimitri was on edge with the realization he was alone in this car with Rose. Because tension was just what the situation had been lacking.

[NFB, for the puck bunny with the stupid hat.]
