There were a lot of benefits to immortality. The ceaseless youth and enhanced abilities it brought were beyond amazing. Never had Dimitri felt stronger or more capable of doing anything he liked on a whim - so long as he was protected from the rays of the sun, of course.
For twelve hours the sun shone in the cloudless sky, trapping Dimitri indoors with no need for rest, no sleep to suck the time away, leaving the day to drag on and on. This wouldn't have been a problem if daytime stuck in the manor wasn't boring as hell.
Boring because Dimitri didn't enjoy Nathan and his ever-growing entourage of annoying Strigoi-worshipers. It was an old story: Human wants to become Strigoi, Strigoi promises human eternal life in exchange for being their bitch for a few months. Eventually the majority of the humans would become dinner - or really lunch since their blood was weak. Some were compelled, others kept like blood whores, looking strung-out and desperate hanging all over Nathan, who encouraged Dimitri to gather some followers of his own for daylight entertainment.
There was only one who could satisfy Dimitri's needs, and he didn't believe she was local. That was one fact he could change easily enough. Plans in place, Dimitri took his leave from the rest of the Strigoi during a productive night, just hours before the sun was due to rise again. It seemed with the help of Portalocity, Dimitri was looking forward to a whole lot of night in twenty-four hours.
But first, he needed a decent meal.
[Yep, he's headed to
town and still very much
evil!]
