Dimitri had just convinced his bobcat shadow that no, the towels were not for attacking, but for cleaning the creature guts off of her when
she suddenly dropped her favorite chew thing and moved into a defensive posture, trying to herd him back toward his office.
"Rose, there is nothing in this gym that can 'get' me," he told her, shaking his head at the growling bobcat. "I think I can hold my own against the roaches." She'd ripped quite a few apart on the sidewalk earlier and then refused to drop one of the dead things until he bestowed proper praise and head scratching. It was kind of gross.
Sadly, it seemed the only thing in the gym that was going to 'get' Dimitri was Jessi, who emerged from the Tae Bo room in a fit of giggles, dragging a man behind her. "Oh hey, it's the cowboy and his evil cat!" John announced with a grin. "Jessi here was just trying to sell me on Tae Bo lessons. I never knew it was so much like fighting."
Perhaps because it wasn't. The bobcat bared her teeth, not approving of this interaction...or the part where he called her evil. Either way, Dimitri held back a sigh at having to deal with both Jessi and the annoying teacher in one encounter. "That is her job."
"Well, she do--" The rest of John's reply was literally ripped out of the air as a gaping void tore through the gym. "The hell?" Even six months with Teer didn't give John enough brains to stop him from peering into the void where Jessi had just stood.
The bobcat lunged for John's leg, trying to keep him away despite Dimitri trying to call her back to him. "Stop! It's not sta--" In an instant, the tear grew and swallowed the trio along with half the building.
Atlas Gym wasn't exactly open for business after all.
