Title: Sacrificial Rites
Rating: PG-13
Fandom: Dresden Files (TV)
Characters: Harry Dresden, Bob
Author's Note: This is in response to awanderingbard's prompt, and while I'm not sure it's technically a full and complete fic, it's definitely too large for one comment box. Anyway, written all in one sitting and not beta'd, so read at your own risk. :)

I certainly do NOT mind a mini-fic, especially one as awesome as this one is! I read this and then went back, trying to remember what the prompt was and then I realized how cleverly you interpreted that!

I love this. I love Bob being human again and the phoenix is such a clever way to do that and he first act as a human is to save Harry! So sweet! And I love Harry's child-like response of clinging to Bob, like he's wanted to hug him all these years and now he realizes he can and Bob taking over and guiding them onward to safety.

And I like that this amazing thing has just happened and they are both so... them about it. Like just... calm and cool and 'yep, weirdness again'. I love your Bob voice and your dopey, sweet Harry.

Thanks so much, this is lovely!

I'm glad you like it! I find TV!Dresden Files such a comfortable world to write in. I don't know if it's the tone or my experiences with the show or what, but I feel well-adjusted when I write about Harry and Bob. The tone of their interactions, I feel, suits my own writing preferences very well. :)

I honestly wasn't planning most of this. I just wanted to write Harry struggling to hold a giant egg that's about to break open, but then I decided storms and mortal peril and dramatic scenery would be fun to add. And hey! I could turn Bob mortal in all of my fics! Bring it on! I think the show would've done it too, with enough episodes. I don't think he was meant to remain damned. I think redemption was definitely in the cards for him.

Anyway, yes, thank you for this lovely review! I shall now pull it towards me and hug it with tiny, squealing noises of happiness. *G*

I think you have a sort of epic quality to your writing that suits The Dresden Files well. Your stories always seem like they should be read by a man with a deep voice. Does that make sense? It's a compliment at least.

Yeah, I really wish Dresden had gotten at least another season. I would have loved to see more character development. There was a lot there to explore. Stupid SyFy.

I pleased that you are pleased!

Really?? Oh my goodness, I'm not even sure how to reply to that. I'm a bit gobsmacked, actually. I don't think I would have ever thought to associate my writing with that on my own. And "epic"? Aww, you're going to make me blush. Thank you. That's an amazing compliment. I tend to think I write the small-scale stuff, so...just. Aww. *huggles* You're the sweetest. :)

I'd obviously love-love-love another Dresden Files season, but I suppose the cancellation of such a great show is pretty much what can be expected from a station that's ridiculous enough to think "SyFy" is a good name. ^_^'

Yeah, your use of description has a real sort of weight and grand feel to it, like a good fantasy novel. I like the way you use words.

SyFy has killed everything I have ever loved on their network. I do not like them and am pleased I don't have to deal with them in Canada, but I'm still affected by their decision making. Space is a much nicer, happier channel.

I'm really hoping that what you're talking about is the same trait I associate with me being way too excessive with my descriptions. I can get...verbose, heh. I'm frequently afraid I've said too much, but I'm working on that. Again, thank you so much. I like the way you use words. :)

I think one of the worst things about SyFy for a while was the slew of bad TV that popped up on the network after Dresden Files stopped airing. Remember Painkiller Jane? UGH UGH UGH. Talk about a downgrade in quality! On the other hand, I hear nice things about Space! SyFy is just. It just kinda is. What a shame. *sigh*
