Religious Rant

I just got done reading "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God," a piece that usually terrifies anyone of even remotely Christian background, and I was laughing throughout the entire thing. Certainly not something I'd read for pleasure, but I must admit, this guy was a hell of a showman. Using people's fears to get what you want is a very dirty sort of attack, but one that is certainly well-known in our own time (not that I'm naming any names, *coughcoughGeorgeWBushhack*). Of course, I was unintimidated by Edward's threats of eternal torment and his depiction of an insane, bloodthirsty god who would crush you under his heel and then wipe you on his tunic, because, well, I stopped believing in that bullshit about 4 years ago. Though I imagine that a good deal of what I believe sounds about as preposterous as most of that Christianity stuff sounds now.

As for what I believe:
Perminedes was right, though incorrect on one of his principles. There is the One, and only the One. It is eternal, indestructable and is the sole constituent of existance. He was wrong, however, in that it is unchanging. For the One is perfect, but only perfect in that it is the most perfect thing in existance. It can be improved. The illusion that is our reality is simply a dream woven by the thoughts of the One, created to give the One new experiences. This idea is based in part upon Superstring Theory, which posits that, if you go down far enough, you will eventually find a molecule that has 0 mass, a molecule known as a graviton (these also have anti-particles, called gravitinos). Yet these massless objects still exist, and interact with our own universe regularly and in a given structure. What has no mass, and yet has structure?

Thought.

Think on that for awhile. Blows yer mind, don't it?
